Today Jennifer Cassetta, a self-defense and female empowerment expert, is suggesting easy ways to improve yourself.
Did you know that September is Self Improvement Month? Even though September is almost over, it’s still not too late to get started to improve yourself and see results by the end of this year. Here are a few suggestions relating to your health and safety that are easy to do and implement into your life for better results starting now.
- Drink more water
You’ve heard me say it before; drinking water is the most important step to a healthy body. Cut out the energy drinks, pasteurized juices, milk and sodas and drink more H2O and you can increase your energy and even reduce your sugar cravings. - Start with salad
When preparing your meals, always start with a salad or other green vegetables in mind. Cover you plate with them and then add a serving of protein and possibly starch. Stay away from heavy processed salad dressing (like Ranch!) and use olive oil, apple cider vinegar or lemon instead. - Replace sweets with fruits
Fruit is nature’s candy. Whenever you get a sugar craving, start with fruit. Yes it has natural sugar, but it also contains fiber, which helps balance blood sugar so it won’t spike so high like it will with candy. Fruit also contains vitamins and minerals that you won’t find in processed sweets like cookies, candies, doughnuts, cake or ice cream. - Move more
With the onset of fall, it may seem more difficult to get outside and exercise but with the right fitness gear, you definitely have another month or two to move, walk, jog, or run outdoors. If you don’t have a gym membership or somewhere to exercise in the wintertime then find somewhere now and sign up. Why wait until January to get started on your fitness goals. Start now and avoid the holiday weight gain. - Safeguard your home
Is there an outdoor light that needs to be fixed so your house will be lit up to deter burglars? How about broken locks? Walk your property with your predator cap on and see if there are any potential hazards and ways you can safeguard your home. SABRE home security systems are an inexpensive way to protect your home without the cost of most home alarm systems.
- Practice personal safety
Try to upgrade your personal safety in simple ways like being more aware of your surroundings. Stop walking and texting and listening to your headphones while out in public. As soon as you get in your car, lock the doors. You can also invest in a SABRE personal alarm or keychain pepper spray.
